Apollo Ahmedabad Launches Liver Transplant Programme

Apollo Hospitals Ahmedabad has created a separate unit for liver transplant on its premises. It has become the first corporate hospital in the state to be registered for a liver transplant programme. A team of doctors from Ahmedabad and Delhi will tend to people with severe liver complications referred to the division, which was inaugurated by the medical director of Apollo Group, Anupam Sibal.

The team will be headed by Apollo’s chief liver transplant surgeon, Dr Subash Gupta, who is training doctors and medical staff for this specialised unit. Gupta said that there was a need for such unit as the number of people needing a liver transplant had gone up.
